Client doesn't appear to be registering on Monitor

We’re looking at using Sensu for monitoring our infrastructure. Following the installation guide I was able to get the monitor server set up and running, with the dashboard.

On the first client, the client starts successfully and connects to rabbitmq (I can see the connection in the rabbitmq logs) but the client doesn’t appear in the dashboard. I can’t find anything in the logs to help track down what the issue might be. Does the client not appear until you define your first check or is there something that I am missing?

Cheers,

Tyler

Which dashboard?
In either dashboard the client list should have your client.
You will not see any "Events" until there are checks defined that are failing.

Hi Kyle,

It was in the uchiwa dashboard client list which was not listing my client.

I have managed to resolve the problem. It turned out to be an issue with ssl certificates, I had specified the wrong ones (cacert vs cert) in my salt set up. From what I can tell the sensu-server wasn’t properly communicating with the rabbitmq-server. I didn’t notice at first because the sensu-server process seemed to start and run normally.

Thanks for the reply.

Cheers,

Tyler
